Pendulum album cover

PENDULUM (2003)
Twelve tracks continue the musical journey that oboist/English horn player Jill Haley and guitarist Mark Oppenlander started 26 years ago. With the added playing skills of guitarist Len Doyle, ONE ALTERNATIVE's music continues to flourish with creative writing and inspired playing.

New sounds have crept in to the musical palette of ONE ALTERNATIVE but the style is distinctly their own. Pendulum contains six pieces penned by Mark and four by Jill. Their contrasting writing styles result in music that is refreshing and interesting throughout the disc. The addition of new timbres including slide guitar and a woodwind quintet bring even more diversity to the sound of Pendulum.

Two unusual pieces of music written outside of ONE ALTERNATIVE were chosen to be recorded. "Mister Magic", a jazz classic made famous by Grover Washington Jr., was chosen to honor the late saxophone player. The other choice is Mark's solo recording debut of a beautiful Celtic piece by guitarist Al Petteway called "Spindrift".

As composer/musician Frank Zappa once stated, "Music is the best". Pendulum contains no gimmicks; music or otherwise, just very well crafted and enjoyable instrumentals.

This has been a ONE ALTERNATIVE trademark for the past two decades and continues on into the future.
